‘I’d rather go to jail than lose my phone’ – Dangote reveals one thing he would find difficult to give up, even for a week

Billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote has revealed that his phone is one thing he would find extremely difficult to give up, saying he would rather be taken to prison than have it taken away from him.

Dangote made the remark at an event in Lagos where he unveiled his “Vision 2030” for Africa’s industrial revolution.

During a conversation at the event, the business mogul was asked to choose between spending one week without his phone or giving up his private jet.

Responding, Dangote said losing access to his phone would be unacceptable to him.

“Ah… I think it’s easier you put me in prison than to take my phone away. So, you know, I mean taking my phone away is no-go area, okay?” he said.

The billionaire also disclosed that he has more than 13,000 contacts saved on his phone, explaining that he rarely blocks people and that many individuals have his number.

“I have more than 13,000 contacts on my phone,” he said.

Dangote added that he usually answers calls, noting that he has retained his phone number for years.

“I hardly… I don’t like blocking people, so a lot of people have my number and, eh, so you know, I answer my calls,” he added.
